Deon Entwisle (BMus, GradDipEd, MTeach)
Based in Melbourne, Deon is an active performer and passionate music educator. She has completed a Bachelor of Music Performance (2011) in both harp and piano, Postgraduate Diploma in Teaching (2013) and Master of Teaching (2016) from the University of Melbourne.
Deon performs actively and is regularly engaged for concert performances and events. She particularly enjoys performing solo and chamber music. Her versatile playing covers a variety of musical genres including classical, contemporary, folk and popular music.
Besides performing, Deon is committed as an educator. She teaches at Trinity Grammar School and Genazzano FCJ College. Her role involves classroom music, instrumental music and choral music. Deon is an accredited Kodály teacher (level 2) with the Kodály Music Institute of Australia and a Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority (VCAA) music assessor. She has published a research paper about instrumental music education and a lesson book featuring exercises and original compositions.
Deon performs on a 2008 Lyon and Healy Style 85 Concert Grand harp, made in Chicago. In her free time, Deon enjoys travelling, hiking and baking.
